The most extravagant course in the whole region and possibly in the whole of Spain.

Visitors either love or hate this baroque masterpiece laid out through rocks, gorges and amidst wild vegetation in 1989 by the genial Pepe Gancedo. Target golf with fairly lenient local rules that favour the brave; any lost ball is considered to be in a side water hazard.

During the first decade of its existence, Monte Mayor gained a certain notoriety for the difficult access along a mountain track. The club can now be reached via a new asphalt road and is signposted from the Benahavis road

Situated high up in the mountains of Benahavis, Monte Mayor is a very hilly course with dramatic elevation changes and stunning views.
The fairways meander through a mixture of thick, straggling vegetation and rocky slopes. T
he uneven terrain and cunningly placed water hazards make this a difficult (and even frustrating) course, especially in windy conditions.
Nevertheless, playing here is an enthralling challenge - if you want a real test of skill, give it a try. Buggies are compulsory but are included in the green fees.
