Course Overview
With its 6,367 metres, this course is the longer of the two which comprise of Mijas Golf.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, Los Lagos is a ground course with wide fairways and a few forest trees obstacles, but is defended by many bunkers and nine lakes, from which the course gets its name and which easily trap the ball.
It is a course with soft movement and large greens. It could be said that the American designer wanted to present a course especially for amateurs, but at the same time, it can present a challenge for the best players.
Course Details
Probably the two most popular courses on the eastern coast are found at Mijas.
Los Lagos has generous, mildly undulating fairways but also plenty of water and sand hazards, making it a stern test of skill.
The majority of the slick greens are elevated and protected by bunkers.
The highlight is undoubtedly the 5th, which sweeps in a seemingly endless curve around a boundary wall and over a huge fairway bunker to leave a narrow path to the green with out of bounds on the left and a deep lake to the right. A Trent Jones classic.
