Course Overview
Chiberta is one of the great French examples of a links course, designed by the legendary Tom Simpson.
This course is one of the most rewarding courses in France, and provides a wonderful day of golf to all who play on it.
Course Details
The original design has been preserved, although the wilder features have been smoothed away by automatic sprinklers and a number of 'improvements' that are not quite as inspired as we might have hoped.
With fewer difficulties the course is more accessible to all golfers, especially in fine weather.
The greens are excellent, and the hazards are clearly visible. Strategies are pretty obvious, and the absence of any real relief with the comfort of sandy soil makes for a pleasant walk.
However once the wind gets up, Chiberta becomes a test where ball-control is essential, and where players with a tight short game will come into their own.
Maintenance has been much improved, and this course is highly recommended by all who play on it.
